News, reports, events News New Mountbatten Hampshire charity shop for Winchester A new Mountbatten Hampshire charity shop is to open on Winchester’s Jewry Street, this spring. Like other Mountbatten shops, the Winchester store will be led by a dedicated manager, supported by a team of volunteers. The hospice charity is now recruiting local people who would like to give their time, learn new skills, meet others, and make a direct difference to end-of-life care in the community. Becky McGregor, CEO of Mountbatten, said: “This new shop is a fantastic addition to our charity shop network across the Hampshire area that we serve. We look forward to welcoming you to pop in, find a bargain, gather information, whilst helping us raise the funds we urgently need to meet rising demand for our end-of-life care services.” Mountbatten Hampshire (formerly known as Countess Mountbatten Hospice) is excited to announce this new venture. It is the latest addition to its growing network of charity shops and information hubs, helping to raise vital funds to support Mountbatten’s 24/7 expert teams who provide care to people facing death, dying and bereavement across large parts of Hampshire. Every day, Mountbatten Hampshire cares for more than 2,000 people across large parts of Hampshire, including in the Winchester area. Demand for its services continues to rise sharply, with a 71% increase in the number of residents across Hampshire receiving care and support from Mountbatten over the past three years. An independent charity since 2019, Mountbatten Hampshire has served large parts of Hampshire for more than 40 years. The organisation works closely with NHS and social care partners, including Winchester Hospice, to ensure people receive compassionate, seamless care and support at the end of life, when it matters most.
