Why double your donation to Mountbatten Hampshire in the Big Give Christmas Challenge? We did it! From the bottom of our hearts, thank you! 💛 125 generous donors raised £35,590 to support Hampshire families this Christmas, and we couldn't be more grateful for your kindness and generosity. 🙏 Your gift helps fund our 24/7 care across Hampshire. Donate during Mountbatten Hampshire's Big Give Christmas Challenge (2 - 9 December 2025) and your generosity will gsupport our expert teams who care for Hampshire families around the clock: in their own homes, through our Frances Sheldon Centre community space, and on our inpatient unit in West End, Southampton. Mountbatten Healthcare Assistant, Amy Fraser, sees the difference your generosity makes every day. “Our job is so much more than the physical care,” Amy explains. “It’s about making people feel like themselves again, even if just for a moment.” Amy is part of the expert team that supported 25-year-old George Hatt, from Winchester, at home and on our inpatient unit, during the last weeks of his life “It’s not in the job description, but it’s what we do. We treat people how we’d want our own family to be treated.” — Mountbatten Healthcare Assistant, Amy Fraser (left) with George's sister, Jess. George loved festivals. To bring him joy and gather everyone he loved, Amy suggested creating ‘George Fest’ at Mountbatten Hampshire — one final celebration where family and friends could be together. “It’s not in the job description,” Amy says, “but it’s what we do. We treat people how we’d want our own family to be treated.” George’s family embraced the idea. His sister, Jess, made banners and bunting and rallied his friends. Jess decorated Mountbatten Hampshire's garden with flags and lights, while Amy brought her own barbecue — burgers, hot dogs, and George’s favourite tunes turned the idea into a sizzling success. “I wanted to make a difference for George and make those last moments special.” Friends and family gather for 'George Fest', organised by Amy and George's sister, Jess. “I wanted to make a difference for George and make those last moments special,” Amy says. “I don’t feel I did a lot. It was small — but I know it meant a lot.” Thanks to supporters like you, moments like ‘George Fest’ are possible — moments of compassion, love, and togetherness when they matter most. For some of those we care for, this Christmas will be their last. With your donation, more people can spend their final Christmas with loved ones, supported by Mountbatten’s compassionate care. Thank you for helping make moments that matter and supporting Hampshire families this Christmas. Manage Cookie Preferences
