Has your boss committed crimes against your workplace? Do they hog the stapler, expect too many cups of tea or call meetings late on a Friday afternoon?

On 5 June, challenge them to take part in a fun-filled fundraising event called Unlock the Leaders, in support of: Mountbatten Hampshire, your local hospice; Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance (HIOWAA); and cancer care charity, Maggie’s Southampton.

It will take place in the historic award-winning arts and heritage venue (and former prison), God’s House Tower, in Town Quay Road, Southampton.

CEOs, MDs and company chiefs must tap up their network of friends, family and colleagues in order to post bail — at least £1,000 in donations, as set by our judge.

We’re looking for brave participants to swap Linked-in for locked up, with a courtroom drama played out by actors as prison guards and judges.

Witnesses (employees, friends and family) can also attend on the night, to enjoy networking and canapes, while watching a live-feed from the tower.

Meanwhile, bosses will guarantee their freedom in time for tomorrow’s Teams meeting by raising vital funds (to be split between the three charities).

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance

Advanced critical care to seriously sick and injured people in Hampshire and on the Isle of Wight. Day and night, 365 days a year, the team is called out an average of seven times a day, to road traffic collisions, sporting accidents and other incidents.

Maggie's Southampton

This cancer support charity operates a network of centres beside NHS hospitals across the UK, including in Southampton. It provides a space for everyone who has cancer — and everyone who loves them, offering support, advice and information.

Mountbatten Hampshire

Your local hospice delivers 24/7 end of life care across Southampton and Hampshire, at our inpatient unit in West End and in homes across large parts of the county. Its expert care-givers are there day and night, supporting around 1,600 people in any one day.

‘Services where they are needed most'

For Mountbatten, CEO Nigel Hartley, MBE, said: “In a decade as Mountbatten Hampshire’s CEO, I can’t say I have ever been locked in a tower. I have sat in a bath of custard, though.

“If you are willing to give up your freedom on 5 June, know that your efforts will be supporting Mountbatten’s amazing expert end-of-life care specialists, helping to ensure they are in homes and in our hospice, across Southampton and large parts of Hampshire, when and where they are needed most."

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance’s Natalie Russell said: “Breaking out of God’s House Tower will send a lifeline to a patient and their family, when every minute counts.

“We can’t promise your boss will ever make it to freedom, but we can guarantee lots of laughs and a big local impact.”

For Maggie’s, Will Ham said: “Supporting Unlock the Leaders enables Maggie’s to make sure there’s always someone to lean on when cancer turns life upside down. And if your boss has to spend a night in the tower to make that happen, we say hand over the keys!”
