News, reports, events News Over £3,000 raised at charity football match in Sholing Over £3,000 has been donated to Mountbatten Hampshire, following the Sholing FC youth managers versus former Saints players football match, in memory of a Southampton FC coach driver. On 1 May, Hampshire football fans gathered for the Kevin Roe Charity Football Match, at the Mortgage Decision Stadium (home of Sholing FC). Kevin’s son, Dan Roe, organised the event, bringing together players and supporters for an evening of remembrance, celebration and fundraising. Dan's brother, Alex was among those to take to the pitch. Kevin was a proud supporter of both Sholing FC and Southampton FC. He also worked as a coach driver for Saints’ first team. Kevin died in the care of Mountbatten Hampshire in 2025. Over £6,000 was raised at the event and it was split between your local hospice and causes supported by Ex Saints. On the big day, a special tribute saw teammates wear the numbers 29, five and 60 on their backs, representing the 29 May, 1960, when Kevin was born. Today (29 May, 2026) we say a huge thank you to all those who took part. Photo below shows Dan Roe with Mountbatten's April, who was among those to care for Kevin Roe. Manage Cookie Preferences
