Who will you remember at Mountbatten Hampshire’s Light Up a Life this December?

Mountbatten Hampshire warmly invites you to celebrate the memory of those you hold dear at our annual Light up a Life event.

It is dedicated to remembrance and supporting our patients and families in need.

How to attend Mountbatten Hampshire's Light up a Life 2024

Join us, at our hospice in Southampton's West End, Botley Road (SO30 3JB), on Sunday, 8 December, from 4pm to 6pm, for a heartfelt evening of music, readings and candle lighting.

How YOU can Light up a Life this December:

Dedicate a light by midnight on Tuesday, 3 December to see your loved one's name displayed on-screen during the Light up a Life event.

Each light you dedicate represents a life remembered and brings hope to families supported by Mountbatten Hampshire.

With a donation, you will help us continue providing expert 24/7 care and support to over 1,800 people daily, across Southampton and large parts of Hampshire, including families like Lizzy’s.

At this year’s Light Up a Life, Lizzy will be remembering her beloved mother, Ann.

"Safe and cherished"

“Mountbatten made Mum feel safe and cherished. She found peace at the hospice, surrounded by family and friends, and was well looked after and loved,” Lizzy shares.

In January 2023, Ann received a diagnosis of womb cancer.

As Ann’s condition worsened, the family sought the support of Mountbatten.

Lizzy describes the hospice’s care as transformative.

“From the moment Mountbatten got involved, Mum had a really good death. She was given a beautiful room overlooking the garden, surrounded by loved ones,” she recalls.

“We didn’t have to do anything but be with Mum.”

Supporting Mountbatten Hampshire’s vital work

Each day, it costs £278.40 to fund a Mountbatten nurse who provides personalised care, in our 21-bed inpatient unit and patients’ homes, in Southampton and across large parts of Hampshire.

With only around one-third of our funding coming from the NHS, we rely on the generous support of the community to continue this vital work.

Your donations are needed more than ever, especially during this challenging time as NHS funding remains uncertain.

By joining Light up a Life, you not only remember loved ones but also provide vital support to patients and families in their time of greatest need.
