This Dying Matters Awareness Week (5-11 May), Mountbatten Hampshire is challenging you to find our bright yellow community van, dubbed ‘Cev’.

Correctly solve a series of clues (or recognise the location from a photo) and you will be entered into our daily draw, which could mean you win an afternoon tea at Mountbatten Hampshire’s Hazel Centre café, in Southampton’s West End*.

Launched in September, our Community Engagement Vehicle – ‘Cev’ for short - has become a familiar sight on roads in Southampton and across Hampshire. Its mission is to dispel myths and change perceptions about the work of your local hospice charity.

Around the clock, our expert staff care for around 1,700 people in any one day, across Southampton and large parts of Hampshire, in homes and in our hospice.

Cev helps deliver our message across the region, including this week at five different locations. Can you work out where they are?

Why not pop by and have a chat to the team, who will be aiming to address what can sometime be seen as a difficult subject to talk about. They will be encouraging passers-by to share their thoughts, and setting out to reach diverse communities, all of which have different approaches to death and dying.

How to play

Will you work out where Cev is and win afternoon tea?

To play along, find clues and a photo every day by:

  • Visiting Mountbatten Hampshire's Facebook page HERE. Comment under the post or message us.
  • Or speak to one of the team on site and ask to be entered;
  • Or email your answer to [email protected] (put CEV plus day in the subject line (eg. Cev Tuesday)).

All the day's correct entries will go into a hat and one will be drawn, at random, per day. Answers must be with us by midnight each day, to be eligible.

Mountbatten Hampshire will contact the winner directly.

Please keep an eye on your Facebook or email inbox.

*Ts and Cs apply:
Each winner will be issued with an afternoon tea voucher. The prize is not transferrable and cannot be exchanged. The voucher must be used by the end of December 2025. Please pre-book your afternoon tea.
