Over £13,000 was raised at the inaugural charity golf day, organised by Southampton-based David Mellor Family Jewellers, in support of your local hospice, Mountbatten Hampshire. 

Stoneham Golf Club in Southampton hosted 72 players, teeing-off in a shotgun-start.

Hampshire businessman, David Mellor, was cared-for by Mountbatten Hampshire and was involved in the planning of the July event. In April, when he died, David's wife and three children kindly decided to continue with their plans, in his memory.

The day proved to be such a success that it will return for a second outing, in 2026.

Highlights of the first David Mellor Golf Day included a competition that saw jewellery prizes being awarded (for beat the pro, closest to the pin and the longest drive), as well as a raffle and auction. A two-course lunch was also served.

David's daughter, Amy Mellor, who is the director of David Mellor Family Jewellers, said: "Supporting Mountbatten Hampshire is deeply personal. The hospice team's compassionate care, during Dad’s final days, left a lasting mark on our hearts. It’s an honour, as a family and a business, to give back to a local cause that gave us so much."

In total £13,073 was raised and a date for the second annual David Mellor Golf Day has been set, for 21 May, 2026. Next year will also mark the business's 50th anniversary.
