"I just know my dad would be super proud. Your baby's boxing, Dad!" — the words of Kimberley Ansell, who donned her gloves on 19 July at the UWCB boxing event in Southampton, to fundraise for Mountbatten Hampshire.

"I'm so grateful for all the support from Mountbatten and from everyone" she added.

Held at the District Southampton nightclub, the audience dressed up for the evening in fancy frocks and suave suits. In the ring it was a bout to remember, as Kim's training efforts paid off and she brought home the Top Fundraiser award. The bout itself ended in a draw.

Kim has managed to raise £1,920 (so far) for Mountbatten Hampshire.

She is overwhelmed by the amount of support for her challenge, from everybody who has donated.

"There were moments where I had a bit of a wobble and it really deflated me," Kim explained.

She added: "The support and donations from everyone left me in tears of happiness and helped me get my determination back and on track".

Kim thanked her wife and family, along with everyone who has supported her journey.

Kim was boxing in memory of her father, who was cared for by Mountbatten Hampshire.

"All of this was for you, my angel. I love and miss you so much," she said.

"Mountbatten Hampshire was amazing with dad at the end of his life. If it wasn't for Mountbatten Hampshire, I don't know if I'd still be here myself.

"While I would love to give them the whole world and everything they could need, I can't. I can raise as much money for them as possible, though."

Kim has absolutely smashed her fundraising target, having achieved over 380% of her original goal, and all of this money will go towards helping Mountbatten's expert nurses and palliative end-of-life care givers to continue supporting our community.
