How to write your Will for free

By writing a Will, you can ensure your money, property and possessions (known as your 'estate'), go to the people and causes you care about after you die. If you do not leave a Will, the state will decide how your legacy is distributed and this might not be in line with your wishes. Please know, there is no obligation to include a gift in your Will to Mountbatten.

How to start making your Will with MyIntent

1. Take the online Will interview in as little as 20 minutes:

• The system creates your Will from the answers you give and is transferred to one of our partner legal firms.

2. Have a free 30-minute telephone or video appointment with a lawyer:

• Discuss your situation and your wishes. Confirm the Will caters for your needs. There is no charge for a standard Will, which is suitable for most people.

• If you have a dependent who has a learning disability, please do not use this service, because you will need specialist advice. 

• If your Will is more complex, our free Wills service may not be suitable. You may be directed to a solicitor who will charge a fee. In this instance, a local solicitor of your choosing may be more suitable. Alternatively, discuss the cost with the MyIntent legal team.

Receive your free Will in the post, sign it and have it witnessed:

• Return a copy of your Will to the legal firm, which will check it has been completed correctly. The firm will securely store it for you, for free.

What will you need to know?
