"My involvement with what was then the Countess Mountbatten, started in June 1987, when my Grandad spent his last few days in the hospice, eventually passing away with stomach cancer. Wind forward to 2014, and I was back at the hospice again, but this time with my Mum and, subsequently, another five members of my family, all of whom passed away in the same year. Throughout all of these difficult times, the one consistent thing that has helped me throughout this awful time was the kindness, care, and compassion with which the hospice treated my relatives, and then post their passing, helping me with bereavement counselling. Since 2014, and by way of a ‘thank you’ back to the hospice, I have resolved to do all that I could to help raise the much-needed funds to ensure that other people benefit from the work of the hospice whenever they need it." - Chris Bryant, Managing Director
